University Hospital of Leipzig

Since 1998, the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital of Leipzig uses a electronic clinical information system (RIS) and a digital image archive (PACS). Facilities include all common radiology examinations including 3T MRI examinations, Multislice CT imaging, and in cooperation with Department of Nuclear Medicine PET/CT studies.

Approximately 150,000 examinations are performed each year in the radiology department and stored electronically. For the purpose to structure and index findings in reports the standardized radiological terminology RADLEX (Copyright RSNA) has been translated to german. The University Hospital of Leipzig supports the RADMINING project with anonymized/pseudonymized clinical data, report annotation, and their expertise in the field of knowledge modeling when it comes to the question how to represent and analyze semantic relations.
