Research Center for Information Technologies (FZI)
FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik helps companies and public institutions to transfer the latest methods and findings of scientific research into economic success. Research teams at FZI investigate technologies and markets and apply theories and methods to real-world problems by using expertise in informatics, engineering science, and economic sciences. In cooperative projects with business partners or in contract research for them they create pioneering models, software, tools and software/hardware solutions as well as new organization and operations methods. New products, services, business and manufacturing processes emerge from their work. Innovations based on FZI's applied research support economy and society in the international competition.
FZI, a legally independent research institute, and its staff are closely associated with the university. At FZI, professors of the elite University of Karlsruhe (TH) and of other universities engage themselves in knowledge and technology transfer. This close link to science guarantees the rapid transfer of latest research results into practical applications for companies. FZI is a non-profit institution established by the State of Baden-Württemberg and the University of Karlsruhe, now part of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
